My animal spirit guide…

In the 90’s when the WWW really wasn’t in existance us early geeks would get ‘online’ on BBS’s. I created an online ‘sig’ or ‘nym’ … JadeLyon… for me it was a persona of a lion with jade colored fur…

20 yearrs later I have kept that username. A few months ago when we were visiting Port Angeles we went to a place that let you paint your own ceramics and get them fired. Couldn’t resist painting a Jade Lyon figure.

WAR!!!

Victoria and Sarah started a game of War when we got home. Victoria was down to about 15 cards when I took over for Sarah. Victoria, of course, ended up winning…

I see sunshine. Summer’s first kiss is often gentle and intoxicating. The dreaded heat is soon to follow. Soon I wish her away and run towards Winter’s cool embrace.

More than meets the eye

So, quite a while ago I posted that I wouldn’t be able to blog much, and that I lacked a passion for photogrophy. A few months have passed, and I am posting on my blog again. You might notice the name change (Thanks Vickie!). Right now, I will still be posting pictures a lot, but that won’t be all I post.

Part of the reason I’m more inclined to post pictures is my new phone. For father’s day I got the newest T-Mobile smart phone… the MyTouch 3G Slide. It has a much nicer camera than the G1 had, and it has a flash. I went with a recommendation from Jolene to use PicSay Pro and Photoshop for Android. Both are fantastic apps. For today’s picture, I only used PicSay Pro. I imagine I’ll edit almost all of my photos with that app. It is really a great app!

To get things kicked off again, I decided to take a picture of the Transformer I got from Santa last Christmas.

Happy Sarah

I want to make a note with regard to this blog. I am not a photogropher. In fact, this venture for me was more out of an interest for blogging, and because I’m a big fan of my Android phone. I will not, unfortunately, be posting photos on a daily basis. I’ll keep posting, and try for a few times a week, but I have almost zero talent for photography, which tends to squash one’s passion for a hobby.

I am, on the other hand, a writer. I’m quite talented, so I’ve been told. My grammar and sentence structure may not be of Oxford caliber, but I can hold my own. I’d like to use this blog to share some of my writing, as well as post my G1 photos. So, I’m looking for a new title to the blog. I’ll post a link from my Facebook. I hope everyone can comment on facebook with your ideas for what I should name it?

After we figure that out, I’ll post some things I’ve written. Maybe I’ll post the prologue to the book I’m working on — 762.

Back to the photo:

Today we got a Canon EOS Rebel XS Camera for Sarah to replace her camera that was stolen. It’s a step up from the cameras we’ve had in the past. I suddenly thought about this being one of those lucky weekends on March where you can go see the Tulips before the “official” Tulip festival starts in April. So, off we went to Roozengarde. Sarah was there to take photos with her new camera. I was there to enjoy watching my wife be happy. Win-Win situation, if you ask me.

A week ago (last Friday) our house was burglarized. It really did a number on my motivation to post pictures on a daily basis. I decided to give myself a week off. So, today I will (hopefully) begin posting a picture a day.

Our office has three desks in it. One for my PC, one for Sarah’s laptop and won for Victoria’s laptop. The rodent who violated our home decided to take the two laptops. I guess lugging around a big desktop PC wasn’t in the plan. So, we were left with one PC. I have an old laptop that has a completely screwed up screen. The hinge for the screen has broken, so that it doesn’t work on one side, so the laptop case warps when you close it because the hinge does’nt work right. When Sarah’s laptop was stolen, they did leave her wireless keyboard, but the USB adapter for it was still connected to the laptop. So, it is useless. I hooked up the very old laptop that we bout in 2006 to the monitor, and folded the screen back so that I could slide it under the desktop. It’ll do for now until we can replace hers with a kickass Alienware laptop (which I’ve agreed to get for her regardless of how much the insurance reimburses us.

So, here’s the set up. Not a fancy picture. But it’ll do.

What is it?

Because I don’t have a flash on my phone, one of the things I’m trying to figure out is how it handles light, and what I can do with photoshop or vignette for Android to spruce it up. Today, I was just randomly clicking off pictures of things outside work. When I looked at the pictures, there is one where I have no idea what I took a picture of. I fooled around with some filters, and this was the one that looked coolest.
